Research question: across all 503 current S&P 500 constituents, how does each company score on overall investment attractiveness, growth potential, and risk?
What this is
Every current S&P 500 member is scored on three numbers, each running from 0 to 100. The data was pulled live at build time; nothing is carried over from an earlier snapshot. All 503 constituents returned live pricing, so no company in the index is missing from the table.
- Invest-suggestion score — higher is a more attractive overall setup. It blends quality, valuation, growth, balance-sheet strength, momentum, and a small safety credit.
- Growth-potential score — higher means stronger growth, using revenue growth, earnings growth, analyst estimates for the current and next fiscal year, and 12-month price momentum.
- Risk score — higher means more risk, not safer. It uses volatility, beta, drawdown from the five-year high, leverage, thin or negative margins, and valuation stretch.
The three scores are deliberately separate. A company can score well on growth and badly on risk at the same time, and reading them together is the point of the table.
Short answer
Scores are relative to the index, so the median invest-suggestion score sits near 49.9 by construction. Only 3 of 503 companies clear the “strong candidate” threshold: CF (76.2), MU (75.7), NEM (73.8). Another 39 land in “worth a look”, 321 are neutral, 135 are below average, and 5 rank at the bottom of the index on these inputs.
CF Industries (CF) has the highest invest-suggestion score at 76.2. Micron Technology (MU) has the highest growth-potential score at 97.9, on revenue growth of 345.7%. General Dynamics (GD) carries the lowest risk score at 20.1, and Coinbase (COIN) the highest at 86.8.

Where growth and risk disagree
These 10 companies score at or above 75 on growth potential while also scoring at or above 65 on risk. They are the clearest examples of why the scores are published separately: strong growth here comes attached to above-average volatility, leverage, or valuation stretch.

Average invest-suggestion scores are compressed across sectors, which is expected when each metric is ranked against sector peers before being combined.

Methodology
Every constituent is scored the same way. Each input metric is converted to a percentile against sector peers where at least eight peers report it, and against the full index otherwise. Percentiles are averaged inside each component with a small penalty for missing inputs. No value is imputed or invented; stocks missing three or more core fields are flagged and excluded from the headline lists.
Each input is converted to a percentile against sector peers when at least eight peers report that metric, and against the full index otherwise. Percentiles are averaged inside each of six components — quality, valuation, growth, balance-sheet strength, momentum, and risk — with a small penalty applied when inputs are missing. The invest-suggestion score weights those components as quality 26%, valuation 24%, growth 20%, financial strength 16%, momentum 9%, safety 5%, where safety is the inverse of the risk score. Beta is calculated directly from five years of monthly returns against SPY rather than taken from a vendor field, because that field is blank for a number of large caps.

Limitations
- These are relative scores, not price targets. A high invest-suggestion score means a company screens well against the rest of the index today, not that the stock will rise.
- The scores are backward-looking apart from the analyst estimates in the growth component. They do not read filings, guidance, litigation, or management quality.
- Percentile scoring means roughly half the index scores below average by definition, including many sound businesses.
- Reported fundamentals lag the market. A company that reported last week and one that reported ten weeks ago are scored on different vintages of data.
- Index membership changes, and constituents are read at build time from the public list.
